Event description:

This is a combined class, including Upgrade To Master 100 Ton Inland, Great Lakes; Upgrade To Master 100 Tons Near Coastal; and Increase in Scope from Inland to Near Coastal Routes. We are able to offer all three courses at the same time as a number of lessons overlap. Friday afternoon and early Saturday are for the Increase in Scope and Near Coastal. The rest of the lessons are for both Inland/Great Lakes and Near Coastal Waters. 

Remember: For NC Masters you must have 720 days of sea service of ewhich 360 are Great Lakes/NC waters

 Location: DoubleTree by Hilton, Appleton, 150 S. Nicolet Road, Appleton 54914 south of College Ave and just west of I-41 

Date: Near Coastal route starts at Noon on Nov 13 continues on Saturday and Sunday

Inland and Great Lakes runs from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Increase in Scope to Near Coastal starts Friday noon and continues on Saturday morning.  


The Masters 100-Ton Upgrade course provides an opportunity to those with a valid OUPV License to raise their grade to a Masters. 


The license allows you to operate both inspected and uninspected vessels with a gross tonnage up to 100 tons, and is required by the USCG for any inspected vessel certified to carry more than 6 passengers for hire. Needed for tour boats, head boats, dive operators, and more.

 Course Fee: $335. Includes course materials, instruction, proctored 50-question exam, and Certificate of Completion. Course length is 20 hrs for NC and 14 hrs for Inland Great Lakes.

 Course Fee: $245 for Increase in Scope Includes course materials, instruction,  two 50-question proctored exams 70 percent correct, and Certificate of Completion.

 Topics include: Block and tackle, stability, rules and regulations for inspected boats, safety drill, ships construction, fire fighting, weather, and more.
