*Explorer’s Guide Maritime Academy is partnering with Emergency Care & Safety Institute (ECSI) to deliver high quality first aid, CPR/AED classes, both online and in the classroom. ECSI is a collaboration of American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).
These classes meets the strict guidelines established by OSHA, The Joint Commission, the United States Coast Guard, and state offices of EMS, Education, Transportation, and Health. Students may choose either a classroom-based course or online course. Students taking the online based course through ECSI need to have their skills evaluated in person with an approved instructor. Explorer’s Guide is an approved Education Center for ECSI and provides this service for a fee of $30.00 for the Skills Assessment and Certification Card.

This online Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI) CPR and First Aid training course provides current training in general Adult CPR /AED and First Aid. Students will receive a 2 year certification upon completion of the course.
Fee:
$29.25 (online training) Skills check and certification card - $30.00 (taken through Explorer's Guide)
Topics:
Assessing the scene & victim, CPR/AED Cardiovascular emergencies, bleeding and wounds, shock, burns, head and spinal injuries, chest and abdominal injuries, bone, joint, and muscle injuries, medical emergencies, poisoning, bites and stings, heat and cold emergencies, and rescuing and moving victims.
Instructions for Online Course:
1) Access the ECSI Online Course Catalog; Purchase the course entitled "First Aid, CPR, and AED Interactive" by clicking on the green Purchase Now button.
2) A box will pop up with instructions on Skills Testing. You will be asked to check the box to indicate that you understand the terms. Then submit to continue.
3) This will take you to the shopping cart. Follow the on-screen instructions and make payment of $29.25 to continue with the course.
4) Once online course is completed, print out the course completion certificate and present to an approved ECSI instructor or Training Facility for your Skills Testing. Explorer's Guide Maritime Academy instructors are certified by ECSI to perform skills assessments and check outs. Many times this can be done along with your in class captains license training. The fee for this service is $30.00 (includes skills test and certification card).
5) After you have successfully completed the Skills Testing you will be issued a 2-year Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certificate.
