Explorer's Guide Maritime Academy, a mariner school, offers FCC Marine Radio Operator Permit (MROP) courses for Captains and recreational mariners. This course is  beneficial to not only your safety, but when securing employment in the maritime industry. Knowing how to reach help with digital select calling (DSC) can help you protect your investment, and ensure the security of your family and passengers.

If you have your Merchant Mariner's/Captains license and a Marine Radio Operator's Permit (MROP), you increase your chances of securing maritime employment, as you will have the needed licenses to perform more jobs on a vessel.

• All vessels with a length of 65 feet or more
• All inspected vessels carrying passengers for hire (includes Great Lakes inspected vessels)
• All vessels subject to the Radiotelephone Act
• All towing vessels 26 feet and over
• All vessels going to ports in other countries
