Event description:

OUPV Inland, Great Lakes, Near Coastal: January 16, 17, 18 (Remote via Microsoft Teams) and 23, 24, 25 - 2026 (In person, Neenah, WI)

Class includes instruction, course materials, student manuals, charts, rules book, and exams.

*******Please Read******** - Plotting Tool Information

Plotting tools, including a parallel ruler and dividers, are required to complete this course. If you do not already have these tools, you may purchase them from us. While you may acquire these tools from any vendor, they are required for participation.

If you'd like to purchase them through us, just choose the "Deposit and plotting tool purchase" option when you check out on our registration website. We'll send them directly to you. To ensure timely delivery, deposit and tool purchase must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the start of class. We will ship the tools directly to you.

Please be advised that the $105 deposit does not cover the purchase price of the tools. These are two distinct charges.

First Aid/CPR will be offered as an online course with skills checkout during the class. Access code is provided after checkout

Hours:  This is a 54 hr class. please see the class schedule. Classes run  8:00 am to 5:30 pm for 2 consecutive weekends. The first weekend of the course will be taught remotely via Microsoft Teams. You will be send an access link to the class Teams video feed. Final exams given at the end of the day on the last Sunday.

Instructors: Capt. David Wilson is the lead instructor.

Topics: covered  include Piloting, Marlinspike Seamanship, Navigation Rules, Magnetic Compass, Characteristics of Weather, Tides and Currents, Vessel Maneuvering and Handling, Small Engine Operations and Maintenance, Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, Emergency Procedures, Maritime Law, Shipboard Management and Training, Ship’s Business, Communications, and Lifesaving Appliances

Important: You have 3 attempts at the exam.  The first exam is included in the price of the class.  a proctor fee of $45 will be applied per person, per session for make up exams.  You may re-take an exam at any of our scheduled courses for no fee, online exams also available.
